Silent before false accusations | Matt 27:11-14
When we face false accusations are we able to remain silent and trust the Lord to be our defender and the One who has laid the path before us?
Are you in despair? | Matthew 27:3-10
Are you in despair simlar to Judas? Go beyond him. Confess your sin, yes. Repent, yes. But repent to God. And believe Christ died for you, a sinner.
Send him to Pilate | Matthew 27:1-2
They agreed to send Jesus to Pilate for execution. They needed a just cause. Breaking their religious rules (like blasphemy) was not just cause to the Romans.
Same cup of suffering? | Matthew 26:69-75
Does drinking the cup of wine at the dinner symbolize taking on suffering? Maybe. But surely not as Jesus did for the sins of all men. Now Peter is refusing the suffering that belongs to Jesus’ disciples (John 16:33).
Corrupt but Correct judgment | Matthew 26:65-68
Actually, their corrupt process leads to a correct judgment. But it’s not correct according to their false accusations. It’s correct according to God’s plan.
Lynching by Kangaroo Court | Matthew 26:59-64
Not only does He accept this title, He adds to it that He will be seated in Heaven and come with the clouds. This is a clear claim to be God.
Legal or lynching? | Matthew 26:57-58
Is there anything you are pushing for on your own – to the exclusion of what God wants, even clearly outlined in His Word?
Dangerous preacher | Matthew 26:55-56
So in a significant way, Jesus was indeed dangerous. Not to the people He was there to serve (Matthew 20:28), but to God’s enemy, the Devil.
Priest plotting | Matthew 26:3-5
While Jesus is with His disciples sharing this prophecy about His coming death, the chief priests and other religious leaders were fulfilling the prophecy!
