We are to resist the devil. James tells us the same thing and adds that we should first submit to God and after we resist the devil he will flee (James 4:7).

If we don’t also preach the judgment of God and His holiness and need to punish sin, I dare say that salvation is worthless, for from what are we saved?

Are you boldly taking a stand for what is right? Keep it up, in Christ’s name. Are you being persecuted for it? Keep it up. Your have your reward in Heaven.

We have the example and call to follow it, but who of us will suffer like Jesus? The answer (v24): we are called to die to sin and live for righteousness.

Work needs to be balanced with life, especially our spiritual life. Is it draining the life out of us and stealing our time from worship and service to God?

Having just told his readers to rejoice in their trials, Peter now tells them that they aren’t alone in their suffering. In fact, Christ Himself, also suffered.
Solutions in suffering | James 5:12-14
When we are suffering, James gives us actions to take so see relief. Ask for help. Prayer is key. And along with the prayer, we can certainly praise.
Patient persistence | James 5:7-11
Having reproved the rich, James changes topics again as he gets near the end of his letter. It’s a call to patience as we wait for the return of the Lord.
