Jesus heals everyone! | Matthew 9:35

35 Jesus was going through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness.

Matthew 9:35 (NASB)

Healing everywhere

Jesus just healed a demon-possessed man who couldn’t speak. When He drove out the demon, he began to speak and all were amazed, but the Jewish religious leaders claimed His power came from the Devil. And He keeps healing…and teaching and preaching and casting out demons.

Ministry work

This was Jesus’ work of ministry on earth. He taught in synagogues, preached the gospel and healed every disease and sickness (along with casting out demons).  A day-in-the-life of Jesus was probably: 1) get up early and meet with the Father and get instructions for the day; 2) go out and do what He was told to do. Pretty straight-forward. He’d be using every opportunity to teach and preach. He’d heal the sick out of compassion, to prove His power and authority (Matthew 9:6), and to build faith in those healed and freed from demons.

Healing every…

After reading the NT a few times – especially the four gospels, it became clear that indeed Jesus healed everyone who came to Him. I can only think of one account where, to test a woman’s faith, He indicated He didn’t come to heal non-Jews. But, due to her faith, he in fact healed her daughter (Matthew 15:26-28). This really grabs me. He healed every sickness, every disease, every demon-possessed person. No exceptions. And the good news is, He’s still going about the same ministry. He uses you and I as His body to do it!

And we will do even greater works. “Truly, truly I say to you, the one who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I am going to the Father.” (John 14:12)

RЯeflection

  • Do we see ourselves in the work of ministry? If not, we need to reconsider. We don’t have to be pastors, evangelists or missionaries. The good works God prepared in advance for us to do (Eph 2:10) is our ministry work. Shall we pattern after the Lord. Get up early, spend time with Him, ask Him what He wants us to do (or to guide our steps) then go out and minister. It could be in the school room, the workplace, at home, shopping. Look for the work He has prepared.

    1. But at first “the earth was formless and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of the LORD hovered upon the surface of the deep.”
