Are you ready to trust in Christ?

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)

The fact that you’ve clicked on a link to get to this page means you are interested in knowing more about accepting Christ as savior. Or, you have decided that for you, today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2).

I trust that the Holy Spirit of God is working in you, that the Father is drawing you to Himself (John 6:44). This is wonderful and I encourage you to proceed where you’re being led.

Know that you were created to worship God and until you understand that you will never be fulfilled; you’ll always be searching and trying different ways – money, power, position, sex, drugs, etc. or, you’ll just give up and let life happen to you in a fatalistic approach to life. All the other alternatives are a waste and offer no hope.

You are valuable to God. In fact, “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8). John tells us that, “16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. (John 3:16-17).

But we need to know who God is. Surely we cannot completely know that now. “For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I also have been fully known.” (1 Cor 13:12) God is creator of all. Jesus Christ is the sustainer of all. “He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” (Coll 1:17)

Attributes of God

Here are some attributes of God:

  • He is immutable, He never changes
  • He is omniscient; He knows everything
  • He is omnipotent; He is all power and can do anything and everything
  • He is omnipresent; He is able to be everywhere all the time
  • He is beyond and above time; not bounded by it
  • He is perfect and holy
  • He is Love

Our dilema – sin

Because He is who He is, though we were created to worship Him, we can’t. He is holy and requires that those who come to Him be holy. “But like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written: “YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.”” (1 Pet 1:15-16). And those that come to Him must worship in spirit and truth. “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:24)

We are not holy. Because we have sinned against others and God; we are not holy. We have rejected God’s law and rejected His love and offer of relationship, we are lost. It is our human sinful nature to reject Him and sin against Him. “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) Only when He draws us to Himself by grace, do we have a chance to respond and turn toward Him.

Steps to Salvation

The process is straightforward. Understand who God is, who you are, acknowledge your sinful nature, confess your sins to Him (agree that you are sinful and tell him how you have sinned), ask for His forgiveness through Christ. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8). Believe in Jesus, that He is who the Bible says He is. “For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.” (John 6:40)
