Source of life continues…

Yesterday we continued looking at this passage and identified a number of key theological truths that are core to our faith. These are not divinely inspired identifications, just my impressions. 😀 Share your ideas in the comments.

Doing the Father’s will

The 4th truth we see is: Jesus came  from Heaven to do the Father’s will. Much can be said here. For one, it reveals truth about the relationship within the Godhead, the trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They are equally God yet each has a different role. The Son, Jesus, relates to the Father as most sons would – in honor and respect; willing to do their father’s will.

We see very often in the gospels how Jesus went to be alone to commune with the Father. “In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there.” (Mark 1:35) 

Never lose a sheep

A 5th truth we see is: Jesus will never lose any of his sheep.Jesus does His Father’s will perfectly. He is able to. He desires to. We read yesterday that Jesus will never reject those who come to him. Added to this is that it’s the Father’s will that Jesus should also protect the treasure he has been given such that they are not lost.

He’s not talking about lost in directions on a map but lost as in a precious possession that is misplaced or lost by thievery or cataclysmic event, etc. But here, of course, He is talking on the spiritual level so, it means that as he saves them from judgment for eternal life. Jesus will make sure it happens. Then He’ll do the final step – raise them (us) up at the last day.

• Are you still a lost sheep waiting to be found? If you know God and believe He is who He says He is, then you know that if the Father has given you to the Son, you won’t be lost for long. And once you are found, you will never be lost again.
