Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other.
…A righteous God and a Saviour. – It please the Lord for the sake of his righteousness to make his law great and glorious. – God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. – God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate His justice, because in his forbearance He had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished – He did it to demonstrate His justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies the man who has faith in Jesus.
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. – Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is he that condemn? Christ Jesus… – However, to the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness.
