I will remember the deeds of the Lord

In my alarm I said, “I am cut off from your sight!” Yet you heard my cry for mercy when I called to you for help.

I sink in the miry depths, where there is no foothold.  I have come into the deep waters; the floods engulf me. – The waters closed over my head, and I thought I was about to be cut off.  I called on your name, O Lord, from the depths of the pit.  You heard my plea:  “Do not close your ears to my cry for relief.”  You came near when I called you, and you said, “Do not fear.”

“Will the Lord reject us forever?  Will he never show his favor again?  Has his unfailing love vanished forever? Has his promise failed for all time?  Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has he in anger withheld his compassion?”  Then I thought, “To this I will appeal: the years of the right hand of the Most High.” I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. – I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
