For riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generations.
Man is a mere phantom as he goes to and fro: He bustles about, but only in vain; he heaps up wealth, not knowing who will get it. – Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. – “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourself treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last for ever. – So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. – But he who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.
Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. – The crown of glory that will never fade away.
